Hollywood beauty obsession
Hollywood can be considered as a fantastic world full of
beautiful actors and actresses.
Honestly, I don't think so, but if you look at it in magazines, it seems
perfect. Why?
There is a social
pressure on stars to look a certain way.
Magazines are using
Photoshop to correct photo shoots but can you imagine how an actress might feel
when she looks at a magazine cover and sees that her body was
modified? Her skin
doesn't have any default, it even looks like
plastic. Sometimes, she even lost 20 lbs…
using this software. How far will it go?
If you guessed
anorexia, you were right. This
eating disorder is devastating
Hollywood. A lot of young starlets are/were on diets and lose a lot of weight.
Keira Knightley,
Nicole Richie,
Mary-Kate Olsen,
Lindsay Lohan…
How many can you name? Too many, way too many... Do you know why they looked like skeletons?
They wanted to fit in our beauty
standards, to feel
accepted. They didn't want
to be called "
fat". They started losing weight, but it wasn't enough… 100 lbs
was still "fat". Then, they went down to a terrifying 80 lbs with only
bones and skin.
Those poor girls didn't realize that there was a problem… Medias moved on from calling
them "
fat" to "
anorexic". It's too easy to cross the line between thin
and skinny. Being thin is ok, but when don't
eat enough, your body doesn't have
enough
energy to perform correctly.
Some stars are less concerned than others, hopefully. Think about
Kelly Clarkson
and
Avril Lavigne! Those stars can live their life
healthily with a normal
weight! Can you believe that some people are calling them "fat"? If this is fat, then
more than 75 % of North America is too! We can't
eliminate beauty standards, but
at least we should set some
realistic goals.
If
stopping eating isn't the
solution, then what is it? Eat less fast-food,
liquors and food with artificial ingredients. Try
organic food, you won't die!
It tastes the same, but you'll feel more secure, because you'll know that there
won't be other
weird ingredients in it. Just think about fish in apples…
Also, look at the
nutritional facts and
ingredients on what you buy.
You can be really
surprised, as I am often! Sometimes, you can discover that
an apple juice doesn't even contain real apples!
Exercise is also very important!
Just think about
Jessica Simpson! How often did you see pictures of her jogging?
A lot eh, and it's worth it! So, by eating well and doing exercise, you can become
healthy!
